With the rise of the Internet, streamers and YouTubers have gained massive popularity, rivaling traditional entertainment stars. It’s now common for them to have passionate fanbases, face haters, and receive huge donations.
Take Arisha, a Korean female streamer, for example. Recently, she caused a buzz online by pulling in a massive donation amount during her first stream of the month.
Recently, Arisha set a new milestone on Afreeca TV by breaking the platform’s donation record. Her first stream of the month lasted exactly 8 hours and 8 minutes, drawing a huge audience.
Throughout the livestream, Arisha received a total of 1,062,686 “balloons”, Afreeca TV’s unique donation unit. At 100 won per balloon, she earned over 100 million won (about 2 billion Vietnamese dong). On top of that, she set a new record for the highest average donations per hour, with 130,533 balloons. All this success came down to one thing: her stunning, sexy looks.
However, Arisha won’t take home the full 100 million won. After taxes and platform fees, she’s estimated to keep about 70% of the donations, roughly 70 million won (around 1.4 billion dong). Arisha is one of Afreeca TV’s most popular streamers, having debuted in 2015. Besides streaming, she also ventured into music, releasing a music video in 2020. Although it received mixed reviews, it helped boost her public profile.
This shows that sometimes, all it takes is being beautiful and charming with good interaction skills for female streamers to earn huge sums through donations. Arisha’s case is one of the clearest examples.
