Without using any AI tools to jump on the viral mermaid transformation trend, beauty Ngọc Ánh is known for her professional mermaid performances at the aquarium. In a post, she introduced herself as one of the top 20 Vietnamese people doing this unique craft.
With a perfect figure and years of training, Ngọc Ánh pursues this highly specialized career with passion. She once shared a typical day as a mermaid performer: “I wake up early at 5 a.m. to prepare carefully, spend 1 to 2 hours on makeup, then travel an hour to the aquarium. I change into costume carefully to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions and rehearse with my co-performers to sync perfectly.
I perform in four 30-minute shows, with 10-minute breaks between each. After work, we hand-wash our delicate costumes and carefully clean the gear since saltwater can corrode everything.”
Ngọc Ánh often shares her work but has never revealed her income. However, a post about an international professional mermaid earning up to $130,000 (around 3 billion VND) a year depending on experience sparked rumors online that the Vietnamese mermaid star might be making similar money.
Addressing the rumors, Ngọc Ánh said, “I do have money, it’s in me, specifically in my head.” She joked, “If anyone knows how to withdraw it, I’ll gladly send a billion VND commission.”
Besides performing as a mermaid on weekends and holidays, Ngọc Ánh’s main job is a special education teacher with a Master’s degree. On top of that, she and her family are involved in construction, interior design, and flower arranging.
