One of the most pivotal moments in Dragon Ball history is the destruction of the Saiyan race by Frieza. This event sent Son Goku to Earth and set the stage for the entire story fans know today.
Recently, a fan artist came up with a fascinating what-if: what if Frieza never destroyed Planet Vegeta and the Saiyans survived?

In this Dragon Ball scenario, Vegeta grows up to become the official king of the Saiyan race.
Instead of being a warrior constantly trying to surpass Goku like in the original story, Vegeta now leads a powerful empire. Meanwhile, Goku and Son Gohan are imagined as the king’s closest warriors. They stand on either side of Vegeta like loyal guards, creating a completely different image from what fans have seen before. The Saiyan empire also includes other fierce fighters like Broly, Raditz, and Nappa. With this force, conquering planets across the universe would be much easier.
Another interesting detail fans discuss is Bulma’s fate. If Vegeta still meets and marries Bulma, she wouldn’t be Earth’s brilliant scientist but the queen of the Saiyan empire. In the artwork, Bulma appears with a powerful and royal aura, fitting for the woman beside the strongest Saiyan king.

This theory also opens the possibility that the Saiyans would become the dominant force in the galaxy instead of being oppressed by Frieza like in the original story. In that case, Earth might never become Goku’s second home, meaning Dragon Ball’s history would change completely.
The most striking image is Vegeta reaching Ultra Ego form as the supreme king. With his signature purple hair and overwhelming presence, fans describe this as the ultimate version of Vegeta: possessing godlike power and holding absolute authority over the Saiyan race.

Even though it’s just a fan’s imagination, this theory about the Saiyans surviving has excited many Dragon Ball fans. If that historic event never happened, Goku might never have become Earth’s hero, and Vegeta could have fulfilled his dream of building a mighty Saiyan empire ruling the universe.
