Man Known as “Hong Ty” Scams Thousands of Young Men
On the morning of July 8 (Vietnam time), social media in both China and Vietnam exploded after the story of a 60-year-old man pretending to be a woman and luring thousands of young men was exposed. This man, going by the nickname “Hong Ty,” rented a small house in Nanjing as his base of operations. Using a “free love” trick, he seduced and secretly filmed intimate videos with over 1,000 men.
The situation worsened when it was revealed that this man held compromising videos, using them to pressure his victims. This was a key reason why many of the young men involved didn’t dare report him to authorities. Among those identified by the Chinese online community were some well-known Douyin personalities, gym trainers, and even men who had beautiful girlfriends or were already married with children.
Netizens Wonder How Victims Fell for the Scam
While it’s not unusual for women to set up scams on dating apps to trick men, this case is different. Some of the “victims” even knowingly met the man despite realizing he wasn’t a real woman. In fact, some were spotted meeting him across all four seasons, based on their outfits. Simply put, some victims met this crossdressing man multiple times.

Meanwhile, Chinese authorities have warned against sharing images or personal information of those involved, as doing so could violate the law.
