Recently, a video showing a young woman in her 20s suddenly grabbing the hair of strange men inside an elevator at an academy building in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea has stirred up a lot of buzz. The footage aired on JTBC’s Half-Day Event program. The reason given was simply that she felt she was being “given a dirty look.”

Specifically, when a man entered the elevator on basement level 1, the woman suddenly grabbed his hair. The man looked confused at her but quickly left the elevator with his companion without receiving any apology from the young woman.

What’s more, the woman repeated the same action with another man who entered the elevator afterward. Witnesses said the first man was very shocked by her behavior. One also added that if the person grabbing hair had been a man, a physical fight might have broken out.

According to witnesses, the young woman is around 20 years old and a student at an academy in the building. After the two hair-grabbing incidents, a witness asked her why she acted so strangely. Her answer was even more puzzling: “Because he looked at me with a lewd expression.”
The shocking video quickly spread across social media, becoming the center of heated public debate. The incident sparked strong controversy. Many expressed outrage at the girl’s unprovoked violent behavior and said her reason was unacceptable. They emphasized that no matter how uncomfortable someone feels, using violence is completely wrong.
However, some opinions suggested the woman might have been a victim of harassment through looks before, and this was a kind of instinctive self-defense. Still, most agreed that violence is not the right way to handle such situations.
Authorities are currently investigating the case, while the public continues to discuss this controversial event.
