In just one week, a 60-year-old man from Chukou, Henan, spent his entire 70,000 yuan (about 260 million VND) savings donating to a female streamer. This left his family in serious financial trouble.

The story began when Mr. Li from Chukou joined a livestream and quickly became a VIP, topping the list of biggest donors for the female streamer. He generously gifted and supported her during PK battles. Being called “big brother” by the streamer, along with her sweet and affectionate words, made Mr. Li infatuated and lose control.
It didn’t stop there. After the livestreams, Mr. Li and the streamer exchanged private messages. He claimed he even saw her nude on webcam and felt “happy inside.”

Mr. Li’s family life was already tough, his father worked hard all his life, and his mother suffers from mental illness. He was so frugal that he wouldn’t even replace his worn clothes, yet he freely spent money on a stranger online. His daughter was devastated and hopeless when she found out. She said, “The money is all gone, it feels like the sky is falling!” Though worried about her father’s wellbeing, she fears he might fall into the same trap again.
Leaked messages show the streamer constantly flattering Mr. Li, expressing love, and asking him to “protect” her. This made him feel guilty if he didn’t donate.

After spending all his savings, Mr. Li met the streamer in person. However, when contacted by reporters, the streamer denied ever being nude, demanded proof from Mr. Li, and said the meeting wasn’t her idea.
The livestream platform confirmed they strictly ban obscene and inappropriate behavior. The streamer admitted receiving donations but said the actual amount was less than the 60,000-70,000 yuan Mr. Li claimed. She agreed to return 10,000 yuan (about 37 million VND), explaining her account was locked and she needed money to resume streaming. Mr. Li’s daughter confirmed receiving this refund. Authorities and the platform are still investigating.
