Recently, both Korean and international audiences were shocked by the case of a young woman accused of killing two men by slipping sedatives into their drinks. What surprised many even more was the strange reaction from some netizens: the Instagram account believed to belong to the suspect gained over 11,000 followers within days after her identity was leaked.
The case drew attention when Gangbuk District police in Seoul investigated the deaths of two men at motels in late January and early February 2026. The suspect, a woman in her early 20s named Kim, is accused of poisoning three men by mixing a powerful sedative called benzodiazepine into their drinks.
According to investigation records, Kim’s actions began in mid-December 2025. The first victim was her boyfriend. After drinking a drug-laced beverage at a café in Namyangju, he was unconscious for two days but survived. The next two victims were not so lucky. They died at motels in Gangbuk on January 28 and February 9 after meeting with Kim.
Notably, investigators found evidence that Kim used ChatGPT to research lethal dosages when mixing sleeping pills with alcohol. This points to careful planning and clear intent to kill, contradicting her claim that she “only wanted them to sleep after an argument.”
