On April 24, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police arrested Mai Thanh Trung (born 2000, residing in Hai Chau ward) and launched an investigation into his charge of sexual coercion.
Earlier, on April 23, the Criminal Police Department received a crime report transferred from the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Unit.
Initial investigations revealed that around August 2025, Trung started a romantic relationship with N.H.T.M. (born 2008, residing in Hoa Vang commune).
During their relationship, they willingly had sexual relations multiple times, and M. also recorded intimate videos and sent them to Trung.
After breaking up in early February 2026, conflicts arose between them. Trung exploited the sensitive videos he had, repeatedly threatening to share them with M.’s family and friends or upload them to adult websites if she didn’t comply with his demands.
From late February 2026, Trung repeatedly pressured and forced M. to have sex with him and other men he contacted through social media.
Afraid of having her private images exposed, M. felt she had no choice but to comply. Initial findings show Trung forced her to have sex nine times with different men.
Additionally, Trung collected money from these men, charging between 500,000 to 1,500,000 VND per encounter, totaling over 10.7 million VND for personal gain.
Not stopping there, on April 21, Trung demanded 10 million VND from M. to delete the intimate videos.
Confiscated evidence includes two USB drives containing related data, one iPhone 12 Pro Max, and one laptop.
The Da Nang City Police Investigation Agency is continuing to expand the investigation to clarify the involvement of other individuals and will strictly handle the case according to the law.
