Spending $1.6 Million on a Famous Streamer
After an unhappy marriage, 44-year-old Yuan turned to livestreams for entertainment in her free time. Last October, she stumbled upon a group of male streamers broadcasting dance and PK battles. There, she sent a small gift to the host known as “X-Wind.”
After the stream, the guy reached out to Yuan via private messages. They shared many heartfelt conversations, during which he opened up about his unhappy family life, being cheated on by his wife, and their divorce. He also revealed that his relatives were seriously ill, including cancer, so he had to work hard to cover medical expenses. His tough situation earned him Yuan’s sympathy.

Because of this, Yuan’s donations skyrocketed from a few hundred to thousands and even tens of thousands of yuan daily. In total, she spent about 430,000 yuan (nearly 1.6 billion VND) on the streamer. Their relationship grew closer, and she even helped him win PK battles with her generous support.
“He wanted me to divorce. He said he would quit his job to be with me and promised he wouldn’t cheat. I impulsively divorced my husband,” Yuan recalled.
After the divorce, Yuan looked forward to a dream life with the streamer. He even talked about buying a house in the countryside to live together. But when Xiaoqi, another fan, messaged Yuan privately, revealing their relationship was more than friendship, the 44-year-old was shocked. She was devastated and soon suffered severe depression and anxiety.
Like Yuan, the streamer shared his hardships with over 10 female fans to gain sympathy and exploit their donations. Some even provided proof that they were deceived in similar ways. One fan reportedly lost as much as 800,000 yuan (nearly 3 billion VND).
Only a few dared to report him to the police, as most felt ashamed. Yuan decided to speak up not only because of the streamer’s threats and emotional abuse but also to warn other female fans.
The 1994-born streamer denies any relationship with Yuan.
He also denies encouraging her to divorce. Regarding accusations of dating multiple women simultaneously, he denies those too. When asked about his relationships with other women, he said, “Having relationships isn’t illegal,” “discussing physical needs in chats is normal,” “screenshots don’t show full context,” and “being an idol streamer often leads to emotional controversies.”

He explained that private chats with fans are a way to thank them for gifts and part of his job as a host. He admitted receiving gifts from Yuan but said he also gave money back to her, claiming his spending was close to what she gave. “She forced me to quit my job. I couldn’t accept that. She couldn’t accept that my work requires interacting with female fans, which led to conflicts…”
Yuan countered that their relationship ended not because she asked him to quit but because other fans exposed his improper behavior and relationships. She expressed deep regret over the whole ordeal: “I have my reasons and am willing to take responsibility. But I feel I must stand up to protect others.”
