Over many big and small updates, mobile mages like Lissandra and Leblanc have risen to dominate the mid lane. Meanwhile, damage-over-time mages like Ryze and Anivia have slowly fallen out of favor. According to CHAMPION.GG stats, Anivia currently holds the worst win rate among mid lane mages at just about 47%. Riot couldn’t ignore the Ice Phoenix any longer and decided to make adjustments to this classic League of Legends champion.

Specifically, the projectile speed of Anivia’s basic attack increases from 1500 to 1600. This means players can now more easily last-hit minions during farming. Using basic attacks to poke will also become more common instead of spamming abilities like before.

Anivia’s Q ability, Flash Frost, gets the biggest overhaul with several compensating changes.
Its cooldown is reduced to 11/10/9/8/7 seconds depending on level.
Energy cost drops from 80/90/100/110/120 down to 80/85/90/95/100.
The projectile speed increases to 950 units.
Its damage is slightly reduced but not by much.
Her W, Crystallize, is also balanced mainly through cooldown and wall length adjustments. The cooldown is no longer a flat 17 seconds at all ranks but now scales from 20/19/18/17/16 seconds. In exchange, the wall’s length increases with level.

Anivia’s E, Frostbite, her main burst damage tool, now costs only 40 energy at all levels. Its damage also increases to 60/90/120/150/180 plus 0.6 AP. This makes her ice blasts much more threatening.
Finally, her ultimate, Glacial Storm, has just a 1-second cooldown at max rank. In late game, you’ll see Anivia’s icy storm spreading everywhere on the map.
Besides Anivia, other champions like Samira are also getting tweaks to balance the game. Patch 10.25 will officially hit the Vietnam servers on December 9.
