While the premiere episode left viewers swooning over sweet love songs, episode 2 of Gương Mặt Thân Quen 2020 New Generation edition exploded with fresh, talented young stars. Following a random pick at the end of episode 1, this week Thái Sơn Beatbox transformed into Jack, one of Vpop’s hottest singers right now. However, this performance sparked quite a bit of controversy after airing.
Specifically, during the introduction of the song Hồng Nhan, the program credited both Jack and K-ICM as the composers. This upset the Đom Đóm (Jack’s fan club) who flooded the comments, arguing the show didn’t do proper research since Jack is the sole author of the hit, while K-ICM only handled the arrangement and shouldn’t be credited equally.
Previously, Jack and K-ICM were close friends before a series of public disputes and accusations led to their split. Since then, every move from both artists has been closely watched by netizens.
After the drama unfolded, in early February 2020, the Sóng Gió singer posted: “The person I worked with recently was responsible for the arrangement. No one registered or stole any of my creative works, not even a single word, let alone the whole song.” It seems this time the show touched on sensitive past issues, which made the Đom Đóm fans extremely angry.
