Recently, Vietnamese netizens were buzzing after a short TikTok clip showed a guy pulling off a wild challenge. For reasons unknown, maybe to test other customers’ honesty, he suddenly decided to place his phone on the conveyor belt at a hotpot restaurant. According to him, it was a way to add some suspense, watching the phone’s journey and guessing whether it would fall, end up in someone else’s pot, mysteriously disappear, or come back after a full spin.

Whether he expected much or not, the outcome definitely surprised everyone. Instead of getting his intact phone back, all that remained was a phone case, the actual phone inside had vanished without a trace. This is what happens when a prank goes wrong.

Some might think this guy was just being reckless with such a silly challenge. But don’t be fooled, this was actually a staged act. Sharp-eyed viewers quickly rewatched the clip and spotted the trick. The phone was placed face up on the belt, but when it came back, it was face down. Looking closer, it turns out the phone never left the table next to him.

Shortly after, the guy behind the clip admitted it was just a joke pretending he lost his phone. However, his explanation only fueled anger online. Many viewers were annoyed, calling the stunt thoughtless, unhygienic, rude, and just plain annoying. Critics accused him of clickbaiting and stirring up drama, warning that such pranks could confuse or upset other diners sharing the table.
