Hanoi CDC announced on December 5 that the city recorded another case testing positive again after discharge.
Specifically, patient 1150 Nguyen Anh D., a 55-year-old man returning from France, arrived in Vietnam at Tan Son Nhat airport on flight VN5010 on October 21. He was immediately quarantined at Minh Dam Regiment in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
A test on October 2 at Ba Ria – Vung Tau CDC came back positive for SARS-CoV-2. The patient was isolated and treated at Long Dien District Medical Center.
He was discharged on December 1 and sent to home isolation in Hanoi. A test sample taken on December 3 came back positive the next day.
Currently, the patient has been transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for isolation and treatment.
Close contacts including his daughter and taxi driver have been asked to quarantine at home and undergo testing.
So far, Hanoi has gone over 100 days without community transmission. Authorities continue to ban large gatherings unless necessary, any events held must strictly follow safety measures like mask-wearing and hand sanitizing as required.
They also maintain 24/7 rapid response teams at healthcare facilities to quickly handle any outbreak situations in the city. Community surveillance remains tight to detect cases early, trace contacts swiftly, investigate, verify, and contain outbreaks promptly to prevent spread.
Additionally, in official document 5628/UBND-KGVX issued the same day, Hanoi’s government ordered the Health Department to activate a “red alert” status, ready to respond to any outbreak scenario. They must keep healthcare capacity strong, maintain vigilance, lead response efforts, improve diagnosis and treatment, and enhance tracing and rapid testing capabilities.
