Wrapping up a decade, 2020 stood out as one of the most memorable years for Vietnam’s gaming and streaming community.
Sofm Becomes First Vietnamese Player to Reach LoL World Championship Finals
One of the biggest highlights in Vietnam’s eSports scene last year was Sofm’s incredible journey. Known as a prodigy and a beloved figure in Vietnamese League of Legends, Sofm overcame countless challenges to make his debut at the World Championship. He shattered his own limits and finally broke the long-standing curse of never making it far in the biggest LoL tournament.

What made this journey even more surprising was how Sofm and his Suning teammates stormed through the tournament all the way to the finals, only to be stopped by a powerhouse Damwon Gaming team. Still, Sofm’s achievement as the first Vietnamese player to get past the group stage and reach the final match set a major milestone for Vietnamese League of Legends and eSports as a whole.
Xemesis’s Epic, Over-the-Top Wedding
While 2020 didn’t bring many career highlights for Xemesis, he marked a huge personal milestone by tying the knot with his bride Xoài Non in a massive, extravagant wedding. Fans and the online community eagerly awaited the event for almost a year, especially after their engagement and traditional ceremony at the end of the previous year.

The wedding’s budget reportedly hit around 2.1 billion VND, with alcohol alone costing between 300 to 400 million VND. At one point, Xemesis even planned to livestream the celebration to over 200 countries worldwide.
Độ Mixi’s Hit MV “Stream When?”
Known as one of Vietnam’s top streamers, Độ Mixi made waves in 2020 by releasing the highly produced and spontaneous music video “Stream When?” The MV impressed fans and critics alike, quickly climbing to number one on YouTube’s trending charts. It was also a meaningful birthday gift for the streamer’s 32nd birthday.

One standout moment was Độ Mixi’s impressive rap at 2 minutes and 13 seconds into the video, earning him praise from viewers. Even in his thirties, Độ Mixi stays on top of youth trends and remains one of Vietnam’s most popular streamers today.
The success of these figures, especially Sofm, was strongly recognized by the online community, highlighted by Sofm’s nomination for the Gamer/Streamer of the Year category at the WeChoice Awards 2020. Nominations are still open, so don’t miss your chance to vote for your favorite star here.
