MisThy is one of Vietnam’s most successful female streamers. With nearly 6 million YouTube subscribers, 2.7 million Instagram followers, and 3 million Facebook fans, her streams regularly draw thousands of viewers. Despite her huge fame, MisThy doesn’t always seem to realize the influence she holds!
Swearing on Livestream
Recently, she became the center of criticism after a stream on December 29, when a viewer made a rude comment about Diệp Anh, a friend of hers. MisThy fired back with harsh words that came off as crude and uncivil.
It’s important to remember that MisThy is a prominent figure with a strong influence on young people, many of whom are still in school. This incident caused outrage on social media and worried many parents.
When streamers use foul language or say things that go against social norms, even unintentionally, it can negatively impact young viewers’ attitudes and thinking.
This situation reminds us of Độ Mixi. When VTV criticized his swearing on livestream, he responded positively by admitting his mistake and thanking them for the reminder.
But unlike Độ Mixi, MisThy has not addressed the backlash. Instead, her latest post shows a tired-looking selfie with the caption: “So worn out.”
Bringing up Sơn Tùng M-TP for attention
Drama after drama, back in 2019 MisThy annoyed both the general online community and Sơn Tùng’s fans. She posted a family photo on social media and, even though it had nothing to do with him, mentioned Sơn Tùng M-TP.
“Mom asked: Thy, Sơn Tùng’s photo with his family got 90,000 likes. Why don’t you post a family photo? Thy: He’s Sơn Tùng, that’s why he gets 90k likes, not me. (My mom’s a true Sky fan, she never likes my photos but always likes Sơn Tùng’s).”
This instantly earned her a flood of criticism online. Even though she explained her mom is a big fan of Sơn Tùng, most people felt she was trying to ride his fame.
Criticized for lack of knowledge on game show
During the first semifinal of the game show “Nhanh như chớp” in late 2019, MisThy disappointed viewers by barely getting two answers right in a row. Many online users said she lacked knowledge and gave some silly answers.
The most notable moment was when asked: “When mentioning the Lệ Chi garden case, which national hero comes to mind?” She answered: “Võ Thị Sáu.” The questions weren’t too hard and were part of school knowledge, yet she still got it wrong.
Crude response amid leaked sex tape rumors
At the end of 2019, specifically early morning December 20, MisThy was caught up in a scandal involving a leaked sex tape. A Facebook account teased a clip titled: “Watch MisThy’s full xxx clip.”
People quickly realized the woman in the video wasn’t MisThy. Everyone knew it was just a rumor and a clickbait stunt to get views and engagement on Facebook. MisThy defending herself was totally justified. However, her aggressive comment, which got over 500 likes, wasn’t really appropriate for someone with such influence over young fans.
Clearly, MisThy has stirred up controversy several times with her blunt and sometimes crude way of speaking. While this style makes her seem more relatable and close to fans, it’s not always a positive example for her audience.
To avoid unnecessary criticism and keep a good image with her fans, hopefully MisThy will soon adopt a more polite, gentle, and thoughtful approach.
