
In a statement to Tien Phong reporter, Mr. Khong Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Hanoi CDC, said that right after learning about the COVID-19 case in Hai Duong connected to Hanoi, city authorities immediately started verifying and tracing related contacts.
“So far, we have identified and verified 24 F1 contacts linked to the Hai Duong case. All initial test results came back negative,” Mr. Tuan confirmed.
According to Mr. Tuan, city agencies will continue to trace and verify any additional contacts related to the Hai Duong case if new situations arise.
Earlier reports confirmed a COVID-19 positive case involving a resident from Hung Dao commune (Chi Linh, Hai Duong) who tested positive after arriving in Japan.
Authorities in Hai Duong shared that Ms. G. works as a factory worker at POYUN Electronics Co., Ltd. in Cong Hoa Industrial Park, Cong Hoa ward (Chi Linh). Previously, she studied Japanese in Hanoi. Since around August 2020, she has been working at the company.
On January 15, after receiving notice to work in Japan, Ms. G. went to Hanoi to complete exit procedures and took a SARS-CoV-2 screening test at Thang Long Hospital, which was negative. She then returned home and held a farewell party.
On January 17, Ms. G. departed from Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), transited through Singapore, and then flew to Japan. In Japan, she tested positive for the UK variant of SARS-CoV-2.
Related to this case detected in Japan, the Ministry of Health announced patient 1552, a 34-year-old Vietnamese female worker at POYUN Electronics, residing in Kim Dien, Hung Dao commune, Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province.
This patient had close contact with the female patient who tested positive upon arrival in Osaka, Japan. She is currently isolated and treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility.
Hai Duong authorities reported that patient 1552 is the sister-in-law of Ms. N.T.G (the woman confirmed positive in Japan), works in the Cutting Department at POYUN Electronics, and often commutes with Ms. G. by motorbike.
On the evening of January 15, patient 1552 attended a farewell party at Ms. N.T.G’s house. On the morning of January 16, she experienced headache and chills, self-medicated, but still went to work. On January 17 morning, she attended a housewarming party at Ms. H.’s home, her sister-in-law, in Mat Son, Chi Minh (Chi Linh). On January 23 afternoon, after developing cough, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing, she took sick leave and visited Con Son General Clinic from 4:10 to 4:50 pm. On January 24 morning, she went to Sao Do market to buy clothes but could not recall the shop owner’s name. On January 26 afternoon, she bought incense at Dung – Mai shop at Nam intersection, Kim Dien, Hung Dao. On other days, she went to work, interacted with staff and managers in the Cutting Department, and had close contact with three family members including her mother-in-law and two children.
