Mr. Khong Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Hanoi CDC, confirmed that the city has recorded one more positive Covid-19 case linked to the Hai Duong outbreak.

The patient, N.Q.M., a 41-year-old man living on Phuc Dien Street, Xuan Phuong Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, has been transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for isolation and treatment after testing positive late on January 29.

Initial investigation shows that on January 16, the patient traveled back to his hometown in Hai Duong and had contact with a confirmed positive case. He returned to Hanoi on January 17.

On January 29, the patient visited the Xuan Phuong Ward Health Station to report his travel history from Hai Duong. The Nam Tu Liem District Health Center identified him as a suspected case, ordered a test, and transferred him to Dong Da General Hospital for isolation.

At 1 a.m. on January 30, Hanoi CDC confirmed the patient’s positive SARS-CoV-2 test result.

Preliminary contact tracing identified 39 close contacts (F1), including 7 people at his residence and 32 at his workplace, plus 12 secondary contacts (F2). Hanoi CDC is actively tracing and investigating all related cases.

This is Hanoi’s third Covid-19 case, following a male student from Hai Duong staying in Cau Giay District and a woman living in Times City, Hoang Mai District, both linked to patient 1553.
