Emotional moments as passengers board a special journey home
Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and Bamboo Airways teamed up again to help people far from home reunite with their families. They hosted the “Bringing Tet Home” send-off ceremony at Tan Son Nhat Airport and gave out meaningful gifts to support travelers after a hard year of work.
In heartfelt moments, students and workers shared their feelings about this special trip home. Ha Van Tuan, 33, from Thanh Hoa, who has worked away from home with his wife for 10 years just to make ends meet and support their children’s education, hadn’t been home for Tet in five years. Overwhelmed, he said, “I’m so grateful for this program. After five years, I finally get to be with my parents again. It’s also my first time flying, so I’m really excited. I just want to bring the homemade banh chung from the festival to the family table and celebrate Tet together.”
The journey home was filled not only with heartfelt gifts but also with live performances by volunteer students, and lively farewells from singer Duc Phuc and rapper Lang LD. Though both artists have performed on big stages before, this show was uniquely emotional. For the first time, their performance wasn’t just entertainment, it was a heartfelt wish for those who worked hard all year and are finally reunited with their loved ones.
Overwhelming emotions at the reunion
The journey back was both joyful and emotional. The weight of a year’s hardships broke through in tears on the shoulder of Hoang Thi Tham’s mother. She had often postponed visiting family, but this time was different. Wrapped in her loved ones’ arms, she realized her dream had come true and her efforts were finally rewarded.
Returning to the harsh lands of Central Vietnam, student Tran Van Manh from Thanh Hoa didn’t feel tired or burdened. He eagerly pointed out the path to his family’s small mountain home. Seeing his parents waiting at the door, tears of hard work and sacrifice flowed freely. This moment of reunion was something he had dreamed of for a long time.
Tears were shed, but they were tears of happiness and reunion. This year’s Tet felt more complete as families eagerly prepared the New Year’s Eve feast. Though challenges remain, those far from home and their families gained strength from the warmth of love and togetherness.

The “Bringing Tet Home” campaign did more than just hand out tickets to thousands of Vietnamese people. It actively supported them on their journey home. This sets the stage for more practical support programs, so no matter how tough life has been, everyone can return to the loving embrace of family.
Going home is the most sacred call every Tet. Yet, not every child far from home can fulfill this wish amid the struggles of life in a foreign land. Now, as we witness these beautiful moments, families across the country are filled with joy, laughter, and reunion. Finally, Tet has truly arrived!
