When most of us think about pomegranates, we usually picture a fruit to eat or maybe something fancy to juice for a refreshing drink. But that’s just an ordinary perspective. For Rudeism, a YouTuber known for his wildly creative ideas for gamers, a pomegranate is actually the key to crafting the most unique game controller ever.

Rudeism isn’t exactly a huge YouTube star yet, with just around 25,000 followers, a modest number compared to many others. But recently, he blew up online after beating Hades, the notoriously tough action RPG, using a game controller made from a pomegranate. He sliced the fruit into 10 pieces, threaded wires through each segment, and connected them to an electronic board, creating a one-of-a-kind gaming setup.

Of course, gaming with this “controller” came with plenty of challenges and even mishaps. The pomegranate started leaking juice after countless presses, making a sticky mess on the desk below. At times, the homemade controller would freeze up, forcing Rudeism to struggle through the final boss fight. Still, he proved his skills by conquering Hades, a game known for its brutal difficulty, even with a regular controller, let alone one made from fruit.

This isn’t even Rudeism’s first time pulling off wild controller inventions. He’s previously gone viral for making controllers out of guitars and even tiny jelly beads.
