Known as one of the most trusted smartphones worldwide, the iPhone may not pack as many features as some Android devices, but it often sets trends in smartphone development. Still, not everything about the iPhone is perfect. Recently, Apple issued a charging recommendation that has left many users feeling annoyed.
Specifically, Apple advises against charging your iPhone overnight because it can negatively affect battery lifespan. The best practice is to unplug once the battery is full. The reason is that charging overnight can impact the lithium-ion battery’s structure. Lithium-ion batteries naturally degrade over time, no matter how carefully you treat them.

However, Apple warns that charging overnight reduces battery life. “Keeping your iPhone fully charged for long periods may affect battery health,” according to VnExpress. This advice quickly sparked frustration among online communities about how to use their iPhones.
“It’s so tough on users. Not sure if we buy phones to serve ourselves or to serve the phone.”
“Over time, batteries will degrade no matter what. No matter how much you try to take care of it, battery life won’t last forever. I never pay attention to the percentage or when I charge. I just charge when I have time and unplug when I’m out. Personally, a phone should serve me. When the battery dies, I charge it. When it’s worn out, I replace it. No need to waste time on small stuff like this.”

“This is outdated. Doesn’t the phone have an auto-stop charging feature when full? I thought that was basic technology.”
“So now I have to sit and stare at my phone while it charges, unplugging it as soon as it hits 80%. That sounds exhausting. Staying up late just to charge your phone!”
It’s clear many users find iPhone charging habits inconvenient, especially since Apple no longer includes chargers with new phones, which adds to the frustration. Still, despite the complaints, the iPhone remains one of the top choices for buyers when picking a smartphone.
