Lately, while the film world has been buzzing over Kong and Godzilla, the internet got a shock from a sudden “monster” invading a convenience store. Though not as huge as Kong or Godzilla, this creature’s size was enough to scare many. Specifically, a convenience store in Thailand had an unexpected and fierce visitor: a giant monitor lizard about 1.8 meters long looking for food.

Footage from the store’s camera shows the lizard seemed focused on satisfying its hunger, creeping toward the refrigerated cabinets but giving up after failing to open the doors. Frustrated, it climbed onto the top shelf and started causing chaos with every move.

Shoppers screamed in fear but didn’t dare act since monitor lizards can be dangerous when angry. Rescue teams arrived quickly but couldn’t catch it as the lizard slipped into nearby bushes and disappeared. Although it didn’t succeed in quenching its hunger, the giant lizard’s appearance gave many a serious fright. After the story and video went viral on social media, netizens quickly compared it to Godzilla.
