The person in the clip is Milleaccendini, a relatively unknown YouTuber with a hard-to-pronounce name. He’s making headlines here for a one-of-a-kind reckless challenge: stuffing Mentos candies inside a condom, then filling it with Coca-Cola.
Anyone who’s heard of the Mentos and Coke reaction knows what’s coming. Scientifically, the Mentos candies break down the surface tension inside the soda, releasing carbon dioxide gas rapidly. Simply put, it causes an unstoppable explosion.
It’s unclear if Milleaccendini knew this basic science before trying it. Probably yes, since right after he started, the Coke erupted like a volcano, quickly filling the condom he prepared. What surprised many was the condom’s incredible stretchiness. Even though it looked like it could burst any second, it kept inflating in a strangely mesmerizing way.
Of course, everything has its limits. When it got too big, the condom finally burst. At that point, viewers realized Milleaccendini was probably trying to test just how durable and stretchy a condom can be. That makes sense since condoms are made from materials like latex or polyurethane, which are natural elastic rubbers designed to resist tearing.
