Right now, investing in cryptocurrency is more popular than ever. So many people jump in quickly, even without much knowledge, ready to put their money down. But high rewards come with high risks. Take Ayoon, a beautiful South Korean streamer. She had a steady career but got caught up in crypto investing. Recently, she made a surprise return to streaming, revealing a loss of nearly 1.2 billion VND (about $52,000) to her viewers.

Ayoon started investing in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies around March this year, right when the market was booming. Even though she already had a solid fanbase thanks to her looks and engaging streams, she paused everything to focus on investing her time and money. She reportedly put in about 100 million won (roughly 2 billion VND). But with Bitcoin’s sharp drop, her investment is now worth only about 40 million won. That means she’s lost around 60 million won (about 1.2 billion VND).

Just yesterday, many fans were surprised to see her livestream channel back online. The first thing she posted was a screenshot of her loss with the caption “Please refund my 60 million won in Bitcoin“, a bitter but somewhat humorous message from the streamer.

Interestingly, not many fans felt too sorry for her. Some pointed out that with her influence and income from streaming alone, she’s earning a lot. In May alone, Ayoon received about 315,000 star balloons (a donation unit on AfreecaTV), which converts to roughly 31.5 million won, more than half of her loss.

Ayoon probably isn’t the only one complaining about crypto losses lately. Some people even borrowed money to invest and ended up in worse situations. This just goes to show that investing always carries risks, so it’s important to research and think carefully before making any decisions.
