College is often seen as a dream, a goal, and a major turning point in anyone’s education journey. Having a university degree usually means a brighter future and an easier time finding a job. But not everyone thinks that way, especially Alicia Breuer, a 17-year-old beauty who’s shocking people with her statement: “College is pointless.”
Of course, Alicia has a reason for saying this. She bases it on her own ability to make money online. In just one year, by mimicking American pop singers, Alicia gained over 750,000 followers on TikTok. She also surprised many by revealing her income: around 10,000 British pounds a day (about 323 million VND), a figure that gives her the confidence to say “College is pointless.”
Even more interesting, Alicia only started thinking about making money online a year ago when the pandemic brought many challenges. At first, she focused on fashion and makeup content on TikTok, but that took a lot of time. She shared that making a short 10-second video sometimes took hours to plan. Switching to covering songs and imitating singers like Katy Perry, Drake, and Justin Timberlake, Alicia suddenly hit massive success. She even signed with a well-known advertising agency for influencers and landed many lucrative deals.
Alicia confidently said, “Right now, I make 10,000 pounds a day and I’m going to focus more on making videos. Don’t even mention college to me, it’s pointless. Most of my videos don’t take more than an hour to produce.” She also mentioned that her income surpasses her parents’, but they still don’t allow her to spend extravagantly. So even though she earns over 300 million VND daily, Alicia doesn’t flaunt luxury brands or show off like many rich kids.
Naturally, Alicia’s blunt and honest remarks have sparked quite a bit of controversy. Still, many agree that if her story and sky-high income are true, then college might really not hold much meaning for her right now.
