Even though Microsoft’s official event to unveil the successor to Windows 10 is set for June 24, a leaked preview of Windows 11 has just surfaced online.
Shared on China’s Baidu social network, the images reveal some interface changes in Windows 11, especially the Start Menu. It takes inspiration from the earlier Windows 10X, ditching the “Live Tiles” for simple app icons and suggestions.
The Start Menu icons, including the Start button and search (Cortana), are now centered instead of aligned to the left like in current Windows versions. The search interface itself looks quite different from Windows 10.
Other apps don’t show major changes yet, but one noticeable update is that all windows now have rounded corners instead of sharp edges.
Microsoft is also testing widgets on Windows 11. While still a work in progress, we can already see basic widgets for weather, stocks, sports, and news.
Other visible updates include changes to the startup screen, startup sounds, wallpapers, icons, and plenty of other features that tech enthusiasts will keep exploring in the days ahead.
