Because of this success, Genshin Impact players had high hopes for the one-year anniversary events. But the latest announcements from miHoYo on their forum have left the community very disappointed. Specifically, miHoYo created several web events like coloring and word guessing to engage players. However, only 1,000 people will receive rewards, and the prize is limited to just 100 Primogems.
With such a rapidly growing community, the number of participants will be huge. Limiting winners to just 1,000 feels like miHoYo is saying you need to be lucky to get a prize. This led to heavy criticism from players who feel even the anniversary rewards require “gacha luck” to obtain.
If you’ve played Genshin Impact, you know that a lot of the game revolves around luck and gacha mechanics. You pray for random chances to get weapons and characters. Farming artifacts and upgrade materials after domains also drops randomly. So it’s no surprise miHoYo is getting slammed for making players “gacha” just to get anniversary gifts on the web event.
