Recently, a story about a Chinese Genshin Impact streamer who spent $186,000 (over 4.2 billion VND) to giveaway characters to his viewers has gone viral. A post sharing this story on the Genshin Impact subreddit got over 10,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments.

The story began last week during a livestream unveiling Genshin Impact’s 2.2 update. The streamer, named Daxiang, made a small prediction bet with his audience about the upcoming character banner. He confidently said Tartaglia would never be rerun a second time. He promised that if Tartaglia did get a rerun, he would giveaway that character to everyone who subscribed to his channel by 8 PM that day.

As we now know, Tartaglia was indeed rerun for the second time in version 2.2 alongside Hu Tao. miHoYo even introduced a new 5-star bow called Polar Star tailored for Tartaglia in the upcoming update. This meant Daxiang lost his bet and had to giveaway Tartaglia to his viewers. In total, 1,200 people qualified for the giveaway, and Daxiang ended up spending $186,000 (over 4.2 billion VND).

For those who don’t know, Daxiang is one of the most popular Genshin Impact streamers in China. His Bilibili channel has 4.6 million subscribers, and he also runs a YouTube channel with 281,000 subscribers. What makes Daxiang unique is that he’s not just a gamer but also a skilled chef. Many fans follow him for his videos recreating dishes from Genshin Impact.

This giveaway is the largest in the Chinese Genshin Impact community in months. Many players have expressed admiration for Daxiang’s generosity in spending such a huge amount to reward his viewers.
