Recently, it seems Duy Nến has tried to expand into another platform by testing the waters on TikTok. Alongside food-related content, he’s created various entertainment videos, but viewers have criticized them as “over the top,” “fake,” and not fitting for his age group.
One recent magic trick video where he makes a pencil disappear has sparked outrage online, with many worried about the safety risks if children try to imitate it.
Specifically, the trick involves a pencil with a sharp tip. Duy Nến holds the pencil pointing at the middle of his eyebrows, opens his eyes wide, stares at the pencil, then makes it vanish.
The magic itself isn’t impressive and the editing skills are clearly amateur, but the reaction online has been fierce because the act is genuinely dangerous if kids attempt to copy it.
At first glance, the content seems confusing and silly, but it could be especially harmful to young children.
Previously, Duy Nến gained attention for his food review videos, but whether by accident or design, these clips often contained factual errors and awkward wording. The Hanoi Department of Information and Communications fined him 12.5 million VND for “violating regulations on electronic information by spreading false information” after he posted a video titled “Hanoi Streets Clear on First Day of Lockdown.”
