Confessing to a crush is always one of those moments that makes guys rack their brains, invest time planning, and sometimes even script it out for days. Usually, reality never quite matches the plan, but guys still put a lot of effort into preparing for that moment. Recently, there have been some truly unique and elaborate confession styles, like the case of Tong Aonan, a mechanic from Shenyang, China.

Tong Aonan was deeply in love with his crush and wanted to express his feelings in the most impressive way possible. After some thought, he decided to create a gift by using colorful Rubik’s Cubes to assemble a portrait of his dream girl. The 27-year-old shared that it took him two months to design the 2.1-meter tall and 1.4-meter wide portrait in Photoshop. Then, Tong spent nearly $500 (over 10 million VND) to buy 840 Rubik’s Cubes.

But that was just the prep work. It took another 20 hours and three sleepless nights for Tong to finish the piece. As soon as he placed the last cube on the wooden frame, he was thrilled and immediately got ready to confess to his crush. But life is unpredictable. Despite all his effort, Tong only got a cold rejection.

Even though his crush didn’t accept him, Tong didn’t seem too down. He said at least he managed to truly move her. “I just wanted to surprise her and show I liked her… but I got rejected. Honestly, I’m not too bothered,” he shared. But looking at the moments he sat stunned and dazed next to the portrait, it’s clear how heartbroken he really was.

After the story went viral, the online community quickly shared it and showed sympathy for Tong. Sometimes, it’s just not the right person or the right time, and you have to accept that.
