Since its launch, Half-Life and its evolution into CS:GO have been some of the most iconic FPS games ever made. There were even times when CS:GO’s viewer count spiked dramatically, despite Valve not releasing major updates. Even with a huge player base and many hardcore gamers clocking thousands of hours, CS:GO still holds secrets that playing a lot alone won’t reveal.
Recently, the community and CS:GO fans were surprised by a newly uncovered mystery about the bomb defuse kit. If you know CS:GO or even the original Half-Life, you understand the kit’s purpose. Without it, defusing a bomb takes 10 seconds, but with the kit, that time is cut in half.
Everyone knows that part. But here’s the interesting bit: faint numbers are printed inside the CT’s kit pouch if you buy this item. No matter how long you’ve played, the bomb code planted by the Ts has always been the same: 7355608.
Coincidentally, this same number is faintly printed on the outside of the CT’s defuse kit pouch. Recently, a player zoomed in on the kit pouch instead of picking it up, and many were surprised to see the number 7355608 clearly visible on the outside.
This little mystery isn’t earth-shattering, but it sparked plenty of questions among players. The popular theory is that without the kit, CTs spend 10 seconds defusing the bomb: 5 seconds to decode the password and 5 seconds to physically defuse it. With the kit, the password is already provided, saving those 5 seconds. Makes perfect sense, right?
