The biggest question online was why the groom couldn’t be at his own wedding. The answer turned out to be surprisingly simple: he was denied entry because he didn’t have a valid PCR test certificate.
The story happened in Xinjiang, China. According to Pu, a close friend of the groom, the groom forgot to get his PCR test done before arriving at the hotel due to rushing to prepare for the wedding. By the time he realized and rushed to the hospital, it was too late. So the poor groom had to watch his wedding livestream from outside. Meanwhile, inside, the bride waited so long that both families agreed to proceed with the engagement ceremony first. Luckily, the test results came back in time for the groom to join the later part of the wedding.
The groom also shared that the wedding was postponed that day. In the video, the bride is seen on stage doing the engagement ceremony with her parents, while the main wedding between the couple was delayed until the next day. Some might criticize the groom for smiling during the livestream, but he explained it was a helpless smile. “I was actually about to cry, and my friends joked around to lighten the mood,” he said. The bride didn’t blame him either, understanding that the hotel’s sudden policy change was out of their control and knowing her fiancé was upset. The couple met in college and had been together for nine years before getting married.
