One of the main reasons online games stay so popular and keep attracting tons of players is because they create a virtual world where we can truly express ourselves, forgetting all the worries, pressures, and stress of real life. But this escape isn’t always positive. Sometimes, intense player-killing battles can push people to their limits. That’s exactly what happened to the female gamer in the story below.

Recently, on the forum of the popular Chinese martial arts MMORPG Reverse Water Cold, a female player shocked everyone by sharing her heartbreaking story. She revealed that after enduring nonstop harassment for three months, she had to quit the game.

Here’s what happened: while doing a routine quest, she noticed another player’s character had died on the road. Out of kindness, she revived the unlucky player. But unexpectedly, members of that player’s rival guild saw this and started targeting her. For three months straight, every time she left the city, she was attacked by other players.

When she complained on the forum, instead of support, she only faced even more aggressive attacks. She initially announced she was quitting, but after just two weeks, she secretly logged back in. Unfortunately, nothing improved. As soon as she left the city, her character was forced to retreat again. Frustrated and fed up, she finally decided to quit for good.

Many who read her story felt upset about the toxic behavior of that rival guild. But that’s the harsh reality of online gaming: the strong dominate the weak, and fairness is hard to come by.
