Every night at 3 a.m., internet signals were mysteriously cut off in the beach town of Messinges in southwest France. This strange issue affected about 1,000 households in the area. While not everyone was impacted, many residents who needed internet access found themselves in a tough spot. When they reported the problem to the local provider, they were shocked by what the investigation uncovered.

A professional agency with expertise was called in to investigate. When their team arrived, they noticed the spectrum analyzer screen flickering in the middle of the night, a clear sign of a signal jammer being used. Using such devices is illegal in France.

When questioned, investigators were surprised to learn it was a local dad who admitted to buying the jammer. His goal was simple: to stop his son from staying up late playing games online by cutting off the internet connection.

The father explained that since staying home more during the pandemic, his son had been gaming increasingly. After researching online forums, he thought a signal jammer was the most direct way to discourage his son from playing late. He never considered that using such a device would disrupt the daily lives of many local residents. Under French law, he now faces six months in jail and a $30,000 fine (around 700 million VND).

Though his intentions were good, this extreme way of controlling his son’s habits was unnecessary and ended up causing serious consequences for himself and the community.
