Scarlet Witch’s magical powers are already incredibly strong in the Marvel Universe, but if she were in the DC Universe, her abilities could reach unimaginable levels, making her so powerful that even Superman wouldn’t be able to stop her.
In the JLA/Avengers crossover by Kurt Busiek and George Pérez, the Avengers are transported to the DC Universe, where they must find six precious items to save their universe from the threat of Krona. Meanwhile, the Justice League tries to prevent the Avengers from collecting these items.
In JLA/Avengers #2, Wanda initially struggles to use her magic because she needs to adapt to the new magical rules of the DC Universe. But once she figures out how the energy works there, she realizes her “Chaos Magic” becomes significantly stronger compared to the Marvel Universe.
Her magic is so powerful that with just a few simple gestures, Wanda can defeat all the warriors in her magical influence area. Even Superman and Wonder Woman admit this power is terrifying.
Thanks to Wanda’s overwhelming power, the Avengers gain the upper hand and manage to collect all six items. But Superman starts feeling uneasy, worried about how Wanda’s magic might affect him personally.
As we know, Superman is one of the strongest heroes in the DC Universe, but he has weaknesses. Besides kryptonite, which can bring him down, Superman’s body doesn’t resist magical attacks. So a spell from Doctor Strange would have a major effect on him.
This means Superman wouldn’t be able to resist Wanda’s reality-warping chaos magic. Her mastery of chaos magic has already reached incredible levels in Marvel, but with the boost she gets in the DC Universe, her power becomes Superman’s biggest weakness. Without a doubt, Wanda could easily overpower and even kill Superman if she wanted.
The only downside to Wanda’s magic in the DC Universe is the same as in Marvel: her control over it.
Wanda Maximoff has become one of the most beloved MCU characters in recent years. But compared to the original comics, she’s still relatively mild and some of her special powers have been overlooked, including:
Enemy Tracking – One of Wanda’s most useful comic book abilities is tracking and locating anyone, anywhere. She can even “scry” to instantly recreate the surroundings of her target, no matter how far away.
Future Prediction – As a witch, Wanda can foresee future events. She’s used this to glimpse the fate of characters like Black Knight in alternate realities or to locate her targets.
Invisibility – Wanda can cast illusions to become invisible to others. This is a common ability among Marvel heroes like Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four. Wanda’s invisibility is unique because she can also make others invisible, as she once did with Wonder Man.
Teleportation – Wanda can teleport instantly, even across multiverses, similar to America Chavez. She can also open portals like Doctor Strange and other mystics.
Nexus Being – In the comics, Wanda is a Nexus Being, a powerful entity that can alter the flow of time. This concept first appeared in What If…? #35 (1992), where The Watcher described Nexus Beings as “extremely rare entities with the power to influence what can happen in reality and the future.”
Additionally, Wanda has other special abilities like gravity manipulation, creating weapons from her own energy, reality manipulation, healing powers, and summoning spirits.
