Recently, news that the animated series “Oggy and the Cockroaches” is fully produced at a studio in Vietnam by talented Vietnamese artists and designers has caught a lot of attention, surprising many fans.

Oggy and the Cockroaches is no stranger to fans of animated shows. The series has built its reputation over time and is a beloved part of childhood for kids in Vietnam and around the world. A recent TikToker’s review video revealed that the first creative steps of the show actually happen at a Vietnamese studio.
This studio was established by Gaumont and Xilam.
Specifically, after receiving story ideas from France, the artists at the studio sketch characters and storylines before creating the animation frames.
Every character movement is hand-drawn.
In fact, producing just 2 seconds of animation requires up to 40 individual drawings.
Today, it’s common for Vietnamese artists and producers to contribute to major global film and TV projects. Beyond animation, Vietnam also handles visual effects for blockbusters like Squid Game and Hellbound. This proves that Vietnamese creatives can compete on the international stage.
