Zalo is currently one of the most popular messaging apps in Vietnam. With around 70 million active users, its user-friendly interface and reliable performance on local networks have made it a familiar choice for everyone, including older generations who find apps like Facebook Messenger, Viber, or Telegram less accessible.

Recently, Zalo announced it will roll out several changes starting August 1, 2022, including introducing fees for some features.
According to notifications sent to users, Zalo will implement six key updates aimed at reducing unwanted disturbances and enhancing user privacy and data security.
1. Strangers (those not in your contacts) will no longer be able to view or comment on your timeline.
2. Each account will have a limit of 40 profile views per month from strangers searching by phone number.
3. Accounts can only respond to 40 conversations per month from strangers, after that, messages can be read but not replied to.
4. Users will be capped at 1,000 friends. Beyond that, they cannot add new friends or accept friend requests from strangers.
5. The username feature will be removed for all personal Zalo accounts.
6. Each account will have 5 quick reply messages by default. To add new quick replies, users must delete existing ones.

Additionally, on June 22, Zalo launched paid service packages for Zalo Official Accounts (OA) used by businesses. Verified OA accounts now have four subscription tiers: Basic (free), Trial (10,000 VND), Advanced (59,000 VND), and Premium (399,000 VND) per month.
Note that Zalo OA accounts are official business pages for companies, brands, organizations, and communities on Zalo. The fees apply only to business accounts, not personal users.
These upcoming changes have caught the attention of many Zalo users.
