A shocking case just unfolded around Destiny 2, where a YouTuber faked being the game publisher to issue copyright strikes against other channels featuring the game. The main figure here is Nicholas Minor, better known as Lord Nazo, a well-known Destiny 2 player.
It all started when Nazo received a copyright strike from CSC Global, the brand protection agency representing Bungie, the company behind Destiny 2. This happened because he accidentally included some of the game’s background music in his videos.
Most people would learn from this and be more careful next time. But Nazo took a very different path. For reasons unknown, whether out of spite or something else, he impersonated CSC Global and Bungie to issue copyright strikes against other YouTubers creating Destiny 2 content.
Over time, Nazo issued copyright claims on 96 videos from other Destiny 2 YouTubers, causing serious damage. Bungie was mostly unaware of these actions until they faced a flood of criticism, complaints, and backlash from the gaming community. Meanwhile, Nazo actively participated in discussion groups, even portraying himself as a victim.
After a thorough investigation, Bungie decided to sue Nazo, seeking $150,000 in damages for each affected video. With 96 videos involved, the total fine could reach $7.65 million (nearly 200 billion VND), not including legal fees. The lawsuit accuses Nazo of impersonation to divide the community, gamers, streamers, and Destiny 2 fans. He’s also charged with using fake emails to threaten and harass CSC Global.
With Bungie taking such a strong stand, it’s safe to say this YouTuber is probably regretting his actions now.
