A recent event in China caught the attention of many online. Zhang, 28, from Wuxi, was on a business trip in Changzhou when she came across a stray Golden Retriever wandering the streets.
The dog was very thin, with matted fur covered in mud, clearly having been lost for some time. As a pet owner herself, Zhang felt compassion for the poor dog. She bought some water and sausages from a nearby supermarket and fed the dog. Then she got back in her car and started driving home.
After driving a short distance, Zhang glanced in her rearview mirror and was surprised to see the dog running hard to keep up with her car. Unsure what to do, she kept driving, thinking the dog would soon get tired and stop by the roadside.
But this Golden Retriever was incredibly persistent. It kept chasing the car even as it entered the highway. Zhang grew worried and slowed down, carefully moving out of the dangerous road section.
Throughout the journey, Zhang noticed how smart the dog was, skillfully avoiding traffic. After the young woman finally stopped and let the dog into her car, it turned out the dog had chased her for a full 10 kilometers, including on the highway.
“I only fed it once, but I don’t understand why it followed me all the way home. It’s a stubborn dog,” Zhang shared on social media.

In the end, Zhang decided to adopt the stray dog and bring it home to live with her other Golden Retriever. The new dog proved clever, quickly winning over the resident dog by letting it eat first and never fighting over the bed or toys.
