Usually, when we want to date someone, we carefully choose before making a decision. But Matthew Wurnig, a 25-year-old from Montana, took a very different approach.
This young man quit his job and traveled all over the US to date women. His journey is called “Dating 50 Women from 50 States.”
It all started during the Covid-19 lockdown. With so much free time, Matthew downloaded a dating app just for fun.
“The reason I downloaded the dating app was boredom. There was too much negativity in the news. So I wanted something to entertain and heal my mind. You know, the app lets you change your location. I started chatting and dating women from LA, New York, and Dallas,” Matthew shared.

In his profile, he honestly admitted he had dated 5 times before, so he was confident and experienced. Matthew believed this would help him stand out to the women.
Soon after, Matthew started dating more people from the app.
To date, Matthew has traveled through all 50 states to meet the 50 girlfriends he met online. His goal was to really understand what women want.
Quitting his job to date each woman in person sparked a lot of buzz. Matthew created a social media account to share his trips. It all began once the Covid-19 lockdown was lifted.

His first two dates were in New Mexico and Minnesota. He went on a hot air balloon ride with a brunette in New Mexico and flew a plane with a blonde in the second state.
“I had dated 5 people before, now over 100, but I still don’t really understand what women want,” Matthew said.
At first, he just wanted someone to chat with for fun on the app, but it turned out finding dates was surprisingly easy for him.
The last two states he visited for dates were Alaska and Hawaii. Still, after visiting all 50 states, Matthew felt he hadn’t gained much. The time spent with each woman was too short to really get to know each other.
“Maybe it takes more time to truly understand a woman,” Matthew said.

Matthew’s journey to meet women from all 50 states has ended. However, he plans to do a second season because he wants to do more than just meet and date. At least, spending more time together would help build better understanding.
Matthew always plans memorable dates. He tries to come up with unique activities and games, making each trip an adventure.
He has hunted frogs in Arkansas, explored mountains in New Hampshire, and gone boating in Louisiana’s swamps.
He said, “I always pay for the first date because I learned that’s how it should be. A man should pay on the first date, even though sometimes the girl might want to split the bill.”

Even though he’s dated over 100 times, Matthew doesn’t see himself as an expert. He hopes every woman leaves with a smile, whether or not he’s the one they were hoping for.
