At the Miss Fabulous International 2022 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, “fried egg girl” Trần Thanh Tâm grabbed plenty of attention online. Before the contest, her selection as Vietnam’s representative sparked mixed reactions. Many felt the TikToker wasn’t quite ready or didn’t meet the usual standards for a beauty pageant. Still, she stayed determined and trained hard, hoping to bring home the crown.
Throughout the competition, she continued to draw attention. Despite preparing thoroughly for both the catwalk and the Q&A, she unfortunately didn’t make the Top 5. On top of that, Thanh Tâm had a mishap during the grand finale on December 15.
During the opening group performance, the “fried egg girl” twisted her ankle and fell hard on stage. The unexpected fall left her stunned, and it took a moment before she could get back up. Though a bit awkward, she pushed through and finished her part.
This wasn’t her first catwalk stumble. Earlier rounds also showed her lacking confidence, especially walking in heels. Fans pointed out that her fall at the finale looked just like the time she first tried modeling and took a big spill.
Back then, some suspected she might have faked the fall to stir up drama and grab attention. Thanh Tâm explained that the stage was slippery and her heels caused her ankle to twist, leading to an accidental fall rather than a staged stunt. Still, that performance sparked lots of chatter online.
At the press conference revealing the Top 30 finalists for Miss Fitness Vietnam 2022, Thanh Tâm also had a shaky catwalk in front of a large audience. As soon as she stepped on stage, she almost tripped. Many pointed out that she wore easy-to-walk-in shoes but still stumbled, showing her catwalk skills need serious improvement before she can be a beauty queen or compete in major pageants.
Besides her catwalk, Thanh Tâm’s Q&A and language skills at Miss Fabulous International 2022 also sparked discussion. Before heading to Thailand, she shared that she had been improving her English and had showcased it in several clips, raising expectations for her performance on the big night.
However, during the final Q&A, she chose to answer in her native language and relied on a translator. Many were disappointed since she didn’t get to show off her English, and her answer wasn’t very smooth or fluent. In the end, she didn’t make the Top 5 out of nine contestants. The organizers initially announced 11 participants, but two dropped out without explanation.
