The rivalry between PES and FIFA isns just a thing in Vietnam, its a global battle. But here in Vietnam, the debate is way more visible and sometimes pretty intense between the two fanbases. For over two decades, the question of which football game truly wins gamers hearts remains unanswered.
Back in the 2000s, PES basically ruled all the PS2 gaming spots. But since 2017, FIFA has risen to dominance. Starting with FIFA 17, the game wowed the world with stunning graphics and realistic gameplay. PES kept up the fight until the release of eFootball 2022.
Its fair to say that in the last two years, PES has lost its edge. Partly because the pandemic shut down many gaming cafes, cutting off PESs chance to capture the market. Also, the games graphics and gameplay quality just havent kept up.
Recently, a TikTok clip claimed that “realism is something PES lacks.” The video compared PES to FIFA, saying EAs game does it better and feels more authentic. Many pushed back, arguing PES still offers better gameplay than FIFA. That sparked the question: “When you say PES has better gameplay, are you talking about FIFA Online or the traditional FIFA?”
Because with FIFA 22 and FIFA 23 on next-gen platforms, many players have been genuinely impressed.
Of course, gamers always stand by the games they love. The PES vs FIFA debate is far from over, unless one of these franchises shuts down for good.
