TikTok recently came under fire on VTV for multiple violations including:
Poor control over harmful content
Using algorithms to spread clickbait and sensational content
Lack of measures to stop business scams, illegal sales, and unauthorized advertising
Failure to manage TikTok idols’ activities
No enforcement against copyright violations
Allowing users to misuse private and personal images without restrictions.
This is the inevitable result of TikTok’s rapid growth in Vietnam over just a few years, where alongside new “idols,” the platform has also spawned a wave of violating content. Beyond just clickbait and “dirty” content, TikTok videos have increasingly become corrupt and morally questionable.
Many TikTok clips promote disturbing and even “sick” trends. The serious concern is that these videos influence the mindset and awareness of a large number of young, even very young users. This impact can distort their understanding and lead to unpredictable behavioral consequences later on.
Recently, a well-known TikTok influencer posted a video promoting a highly sensitive “18+ exchange” act. This is depraved content created solely to grab views. Verified TikTok accounts like this should be aware that their “fun” clips can have serious, far-reaching effects on users and society.
TikTok is in trouble, but this is the price the platform pays for failing to control harmful, dirty, and toxic content created by its own users. While there is still plenty of wholesome content on TikTok, that alone can’t save its reputation when dangerous content is flooding the app.
