TikTok is known as one of the platforms with a massive user base, not just in Vietnam but worldwide. However, because of its huge number of users and the explosion of TikTok creators, the platform struggles to control all the content being uploaded.

It’s not hard to come across TikTok videos that leave viewers confused or shaking their heads in disbelief. Many creators build their content purely to grab views and quickly gain fame. As platforms like Facebook and YouTube tighten their content rules, more users are turning to TikTok hoping it’s the fastest way to become an influencer.

If you’ve spent enough time on TikTok, you’ll notice many videos are made with completely pointless content. Trends like “placing your phone on a plane window” or “sitting on the luggage conveyor belt” have become disturbing and annoying to many viewers.

Despite repeated criticism, harmful content still floods the app. Recently, a clip showing someone “eating a kilo of MSG” caught TikTok users’ attention. In this short 5-second video, a TikToker quickly devours what appears to be a bowl of monosodium glutamate. Even though the clip is sped up, many viewers were left horrified by the challenge.

While MSG remains a debated topic regarding its health effects, making a video about eating a kilo of it leaves viewers uneasy, especially worrying that kids might try to copy it. Once again, this raises alarm bells about “view-chasing content” on TikTok and social media in general: many creators are willing to risk everything, even their own safety and public health, just to get famous.
