Forbes recently revealed its 2024 “30 Under 30 Asia” list, featuring 300 talented individuals under 30 across various fields in Asia. Those chosen are young professionals making a positive impact in their industries.
In the Media, Marketing & Advertising category, Dong Van Hung (born 1996), the creator behind Vietnam’s YouTube channel Ẩm Thực Mẹ Làm, made a surprise appearance. Forbes introduced him like this: “He launched the channel in early 2019 and quickly attracted viewers, hitting 100,000 subscribers within three months and earning the Silver Play Button. Each video captures authentic moments of Hung and his mother preparing meals, tending their garden, and sharing simple rural life. The channel was among the few Vietnamese representatives at YouTube FanFest 2020.”

Dong Van Hung himself followed Forbes’ annual selection and decided to submit his nomination when he saw a fitting category. He was surprised and grateful to be included, knowing many talented young people from other countries were also in the running. He said he never expected to make the list.
The Ẩm Thực Mẹ Làm channel was created by Hung in 2019 to showcase the hardworking spirit of mothers, the love-filled meals they prepare, and the peaceful scenes of Vietnamese countryside life. His mother is the main star of the channel. Thanks to its simple, heartfelt style, the channel has won the affection of many online viewers. In 2020, it was nominated for Hot YouTuber of the Year at the WeChoice Awards.

Dong Van Hung didn’t forget to thank his mother and family first, calling them his inspiration and motivation for creating the channel. He also thanked his followers for their love and support. Looking ahead, he plans to produce more content about Vietnamese food and rural culture to share with international audiences.
