As public interest in gamer Mèo Béo’s heartbreaking story started to fade, new findings from investigators made many people change their minds. It turns out Đàm Trúc, the girlfriend, was innocent and did not scam Mèo Béo. 
Specifically, there was no secret relationship. Before Lunar New Year, Đàm Trúc even introduced Mèo Béo to her parents and friends back home. During their time together, they went through several breakups and reconciliations. She once told the gamer, “I’m still young and need money. I can’t just play games forever. I have to save for my future, so don’t send me money,” when Mèo Béo wanted to give her money.
Investigators confirmed that on the day Mèo Béo transferred 66,666.66 yuan (about 240 million VND) to Đàm Trúc, it was marked as a voluntary gift. He said she could manage her flower shop independently and he wouldn’t interfere, then blocked her Alipay account to prevent her from sending money back. From when they met online until Mèo Béo’s passing, he transferred money to Đàm Trúc 317 times totaling over 799,000 yuan (more than 2.8 billion VND). Meanwhile, she sent money to Mèo Béo and his family 179 times, totaling over 463,000 yuan (about 1.6 billion VND).
The investigation showed Đàm Trúc and Mèo Béo had a genuine relationship for over two years, met each other’s families and friends, and openly shared their relationship with those close to them. They saved money together for their future. The truth revealed: Đàm Trúc did not commit fraud or hide anything, nor did she use love as an excuse to scam Mèo Béo’s money. Therefore, no crime of fraud was found. The police decided not to prosecute according to the law. 
Behind this shocking drama, it was Mèo Béo’s sister who orchestrated everything. She checked the phone Mèo Béo left behind and posted private chats and screenshots of money transactions between Mèo Béo and Đàm Trúc. Investigations found she deliberately contacted many people to write posts and comments to gain sympathy from the online community, selectively editing conversations to portray Đàm Trúc as a “scammer.”
She even bought fake engagement on social platforms, causing her follower count to spike quickly. Her actions led to Đàm Trúc receiving harsh criticism and insults from netizens. Now, she has realized her illegal behavior and admitted her mistakes. The police will handle the case according to the law based on further investigation results.
