Nearly 2 Weeks Without Sleep Livestream
Randy Gardner holds the Guinness World Record for staying awake 264 hours straight for a scientific study. Afterward, he faced serious health issues and struggled with insomnia for a long time. Wanting to break this record, 19-year-old YouTuber Norme took on the challenge. He publicly attempted the risky feat of livestreaming nonstop for 264 hours and 24 minutes. Although Norme got close to the world record, his attempt was no longer officially recognized.

A Dangerous Livestream Journey
With 1.2 million YouTube followers, Norme became the focus of attention with his extreme challenge to stay awake and livestream for 264 hours and 24 minutes straight. During the process, his older brother Don had to help keep him awake by splashing water on his face and even making him stand up.

Many viewers grew worried and urged Norme to stop the challenge as his health visibly declined. Some even alerted the police out of concern for his safety. Near the end of the livestream, ambulances and police cars were parked outside his home. The stream finally ended when Norme showed signs of fainting, hallucinations, and slurred speech.

Norme’s YouTube channel has since removed the 12-day livestream.
Medical experts say that sleep deprivation can cause serious health risks. Staying awake for such a long time can lead to complications like communication problems, impaired judgment, memory loss, reduced attention, vision and hearing decline, poor hand-eye coordination, tremors, and muscle tension.
